The Galway Camino is a self-directed pilgrim walk between 7 holy places in
Galway City, viz:
- Galway Cathedral
- The Franciscan Abbey, St Francis Street
- St Nicholas' Collegiate Church
- The Augustinian Church, St Augustine Street
- St Mary's Dominican Church, Claddagh
- The Joseph's Church, Presentation Road
- The Poor Clare Monastery, Nuns' Island
The walk can be done at any time,
But on Saturday 19 September 2026 there is an organised event. From
12-noon, participants can:
- Get a booklet from Galway Cathedral
- Visit each destination, and get the booklet stamped
- Return to the Cathedral, by 5:30pm to receive a certificate of completion.
Cost for the booklet: €5 per person, €4 concession
(unemployed/OAP/etc.), or €10 per family.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
There is no specific route for the walk. One suggestion is shown on the map
below.
