The Archdiocese of Tuam is working to provide an OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) programme for adults who want to begin or continue their journey of faith within the Catholic Church.
The OCIA programme (which used to be called the RCIA, or adult catechism classes) is for:
- Adults who have not yet been baptised in a Christian church, and want to become Catholic.
- Adults who were baptised in another recognised Christian church, and who now want full communion with the Catholic Church.
- Adult who were baptised Catholic, but who have has not yet celebrated Confirmation or First Eucharist - and now want to do this.
Fr Shane Costello and Nicola Mitchell are the OCIA co-ordinators for the Tuam Diocese. They are organisng support for parishes in accompanying those who come forward.
